very good

Very good arcade conversion, thank you. I also added it to my November's new Commodore 64 games video too.

Very nice arcade conversion - like the Original! Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 00:46:17. Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. πŸ™‚

This is a very impressive port of the arcade game, much more faithful than the extremely poor official port. I do have a couple issues though. Please don't take this as me being negative, I just want to voice my honest thoughts.

For reference, I'm playing BurgerTime in the WinVICE emulator, using the cycle exact version, and have tried it in both PAL and NTSC.

Using the pepper is EXTREMELY sensitive. In fact at first I thought it had a bug where it would use two peppers at once. Then I realized that it just keeps using peppers until the button is released, or until you run out. However there's practically no time between them, so an average button press will often use two at once.If you hold the button down, you can use all five peppers in about half a second. I would like to suggest that each button press only use one pepper, and then not use another one until the button is released and pressed again.

When you complete a level and the last piece of the last burger drops to the bottom, the lettuce on that burger disappears. This doesn't affect the game in any way, it just looks wrong.

Finally, I often find it hard to get off ladders onto a platform. It seems like there's more margin for error if you're slightly above the platform than if you're slightly below it. To be honest, I haven't played the arcade game in quite a long time, so I don't know how accurate this is, but I find that a lot of my deaths happen because I'm not quite high enough on a ladder to get off onto a platform. Similarly, I sometimes have trouble quickly getting onto a ladder because I'm not positioned squarely enough on it. Maybe I'm unfairly criticizing it here, but to me it seems kind of picky about the positioning.

In any case, I love the graphics and sound and think you've done an amazing job. This is what the official port should have been like. :)

Finally a great conversion for our beloved C64 😍 Here you can find a quick gameplay/review in Italian (compared to other versions). 😁

as hard as the arcade :) love it

Burger Time is tough but it is heck of a lot of fun. Nice graphics, and the game play is very addictive. I love it.

Original ! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Awesome port game !

Great looking, playing, and sounding! A few tweaks could take it closer to the arcade.

One thing with the peppering that would greatly improve the game. In the arcade, when you pepper a pickle (or whatever) and in it's dazed state an egg (or whatever) comes on top then you pepper them both in the same location, the dazed state timer of the pickle resets. Both the pickle and egg (or however many condiments that you pepper) all revive at the same time. This mechanic is key to grouping the condiments into a tight bundle. YouTube Poco Blair's Burgertime video for condiment grouping if you are unaware of this strategy.

The pepper power ups come out way too often. I believe the power ups come out based on number of burger items that have made their way to the completion location.

o Level one, every four burger components that are dropped to the completion pile will bring out the ice cream cone.
o Level two the coffee cup comes out at 5, 7, and 13 burger components in the completion pile.
  o Level three, 4, 8 & 14
  o Level four, 6, 16, 22, 28
  o Level five, 3, 6, 9
  o Level six, 3, 7, 12, 14

Burger components that are partially dropped should be reset to the flat, starting position after the player dies.

Yeah, nitpicky, were I not quite familiar with BurgerTime these mechanics would not even be on the radar.

Steve

Great info thanks, especially the bonus triggers, I couldn't find anything on the net about that. I did think it might be linked to completed ingredients but there also seems to be a delay between a piece landing and the bonus appearing which took me in the 'random' direction.

I'll implement these improvements in the coming days, thanks again!

My play on the update, thanks and donation made for this great game conversion.

Hello! All humanity is requesting the conversion of Battle City for C64 :P

Ha,I do have a lot of graphics drawn for that already, no code started though. I'm not above bribery! ;)

An awesome conversion of the arcade game ! bravo ^^ !

very good

Wow, this is amazing! Such a perfect conversion, I will be playing this soon as I finish work :)

Amazing conversion, this is my tribute.  Thank you.

Great version of this classic game. Nice!

Congratulations!!  Another fine conversion :-)

Thanks for the Arcade perfect conversion, one suggestion only: i notice instead of the arcade version, the Pepper power up comes less than the arcade (i tried both, on the arcade first level Pepper show up 3 times, on C64 - real hardware - only one and in one game nothing power up on the first level) for the rest graphics is awesome and gameplay smooth and fast. Thank you!

Thanks! Yeah I haven't been able to work out how the arcade does it, it doesn't appear to be on a fixed timer, sometimes it can be 30 seconds or more and sometimes they appear within seconds of another one disappearing which suggests some randomness. I can easily increase the chance of them increasing though.

Excellent! ;-)

Top conversion!!! TOP!! TOP!

Excellent work as always!
